history
School history
The vocational schools for music have existed in Bavaria since 1977. The foundation of the music schools in Bavaria took place against the background of a great boom in amateur music in recent decades. This made it necessary to train qualified ensemble and choir leaders. A vocational school for music was founded in every Bavarian administrative district, in 1983 the one for Swabia in Krumbach.
History of the building
The building was built in 1871 for the Fernsemer'sche Höhere Töchterinstitut , which was founded 15 years earlier by Balthasar Fernsemer (1814–1889) and his wife in Hürben . The size of the building comes from the fact that the facility was a boarding school. The institute was open to girls of different denominations, which was unusual at the time. The training was popular because the girls had good prospects of marriage and promotion thanks to the broad education they received - including literature, music, English, French, housekeeping and also more unusual subjects such as hygiene or gymnastics.
From 1902, when the institute was taken over by the Maria Ward sisters from Augsburg, it was a so-called English institute until it was dissolved in 1968 , where girls could graduate from secondary school.
Others
The small, now public park, which adjoins the building to the east, used to belong to the girls' boarding school. That is why the park is still popularly called the Institute Park or Inschti Park .
