Vocational School (Berlin)
The vocational high school (BOS) enables students with already completed vocational training and technical college the subject-specific or general university to gain.
General
The Berufsoberschule in Berlin is offered either as a one to two-year full-time school course or as a three to four-year part-time course. The BOS was designed as an advanced school form for the technical college , that is, it commonly refers to the 13th school year following the acquisition of the technical college entrance qualification by successfully attending the technical college.
As a rule, with successful completion, the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification is obtained, which, depending on the subject orientation of the BOS attended, entitles to study certain courses throughout Germany. If a second foreign language can be proven, the general higher education entrance qualification is awarded.
Subjects
The vocational school is run in the fields of economics, technology, social affairs, nutrition and housekeeping, design and agriculture.
Admission requirements
Anyone who has
- the technical college entrance qualification and
- The professional admission requirements include at least 2 years of completed vocational training in a recognized training occupation or completed vocational training in a school-based vocational training, a passed employment examination in a career in the middle or senior service or at least 5 years of professional experience.
For the subjects German, first foreign language and mathematics, at least satisfactory performance in the secondary school certificate must be proven. Exceptions to this rule are possible.

As a rule, the graduate receives the subject- specific higher education entrance qualification , which entitles them to study relevant courses.
If a second foreign language can be proven through
- Transfer-relevant lessons in a second foreign language of the general education school at least in grades 7 to 10, if this foreign language course was completed with the grade “sufficient” or better or
- participation in 320 hours (with at least 5 points) foreign language lessons at the technical / vocational college or
- Proof of a foreign language certificate with at least “sufficient” grading, the graduate receives the general university entrance qualification and thus access to all university courses.
