history

The “Reichsverband der Werbungvertreter eV” was founded in Berlin in the early 1920s as a professional and professional association for advertising and advertising representatives in Germany . The seat changed several times in the early years, so shortly after it was founded it was moved to Leipzig , 1926 to Heidelberg and three years later to Frankfurt am Main . In 1927 the first issue of a members' magazine appeared, the magazine of the Reich Association of Advertisers .

During the Nazi era , the forced dissolution and integration into the National Socialist Reich Student Council of German Advertising Experts (NSRDW) took place in 1934 . After the end of the Second World War , on June 20, 1947, the regional association of advertising representatives in Hesse was founded in Frankfurt . It was not until 1951 that the Federal Association of German Advertisers , based in Frankfurt, was re-established. Six years later, in 1957, the member's publication appears again, now under the name Der Verlagsvertreter . In 1958 the association changes its name to the Bundesverband der Deutschen Verlagsvertreter eV (BDV).

In 1961, the Federal Ministry of Economics recognized the sole representation of the BDV as a professional association of publishers' representatives. In 1970, the current statutes are adopted. Another change of name followed in 1989 in the Berufsverband der Medienvertreter eV , keeping the abbreviation BDV .
