The professional association for counseling, education & psychotherapy e. V. (BVPPT) is both the professional representation of the Counselor and the only multi-professional and cross-method professional association for advice / counseling based in Eschweiler ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History, tasks and goals

The association was founded in 1986 by around 20 consultants. Until 1999, the association operated under the name of the Professional Association of Educational Psychotherapists . With the passing of the Psychotherapists Act in Germany, the name Professional Association for Counseling, Education & Psychotherapy e. V. elected.

The association serves the professional advisor / counselor as a representation of interests in qualitative, content-related and professional-political matters.

The members work with means of pedagogically oriented / therapeutic-educational and advisory structure and personality development. Humanistic psychology and systemic thinking serve as the basis .

The association is a founding member of the German Society for Consulting (DGfB) and a member of the National Forum for Consulting in Education, Profession and Employment. V. (nfb).

Association structure

The association represents over 500 members and has had its office in Eschweiler since 1986. On the basis of its guidelines, it concludes cooperation partnerships with further education institutes and universities.

The professional association personal advice and personal care of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and the BVPPT have a contract on the mutual recognition of training.

Membership requirements

The prerequisite for admission is the successful completion of several years of extra-occupational further training on the basis of humanistic psychology or systemic concepts or a completed degree at a cooperating university . Anyone who is certified by one of the cooperating training partners can be recognized as a member of the BVPPT upon application. Recognition as a Counselor / Pedagogical - Therapeutic Advisor, grad. (BVPPT) is achieved through participation in a graduation process. Recognition as a counselor by the association is recognized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in order to be allowed to work commercially as a life advisor. Conversely, certified Austrian life coaches can become members of the association and thus acquire the title of Counselor grad. BVVPT.

Quality in advice

Standards

Since it was founded in 1986, the BVPPT has been committed to ensuring and developing the quality of advice. To this end, the association, in cooperation with its cooperation partners, has developed extensive further training standards that correspond to the standards of the German Society for Consulting (DGfB) and go far beyond them in scope.

The BVPPT has also developed ethical guidelines for its members from the start. They should also serve the quality of advice.

Arbitration Board

The BVPPT has set up an arbitration board that also serves the purpose of quality assurance. It can be used free of charge by customers / clients as well as by members.

Association members have the opportunity to voluntarily reflect on their work in a quality process.

Association magazine

The BVPPT is the publisher of an association journal. The journal has been published since the association was founded, from 1986 to 1993 (No. 1–10) under the name “ Info ”, from 1994 to 1998 (No. 11–17) under the name “ Pedagogical PsychoTherapy ”, and since 1999 under the name " Counseling Journal ". It appears twice a year as a print and online version.
