Berva was a very popular moped in Hungary in the 1960s , produced by the company Egri Finomszerelvénygyár .

history

The first prototype was completed in 1957 . The engine with an output of 1.8 HP and a two-speed gearbox was developed by Csepel Motorkerékpárgyár and produced in a factory in Székesfehérvár . The final assembly of the vehicle was done by the company Egri Finomszerelvénygyár in Felsőtárkány . The moped had a two-stroke engine with a displacement of 49 cm³ . The complete vehicle weighed about 55 kg and reached a top speed of 45 km / h. The tank held 5.4 liters. Series production began in 1958 . At first, the mopeds weren't equipped with horns , but with bicycle bells. The price of the first models was 5,200 forints , which at that time corresponded to about four average monthly salaries in Hungary. Over time, the equipment of the moped has been continuously improved. Production was discontinued in 1962 at the instigation of the Comecon . In total, around 70,000 Bervas were produced and sold.
