The Besanstagsegel also Besa (h) nstagsegel (formerly Aap ) is a small staysail on sailing ships . The head is attached to the top of the mizzen mast and the luff to the forestay of the mizzen mast . On ocean-going yachts, e.g. B. on a yawl , the neck of the mizzengesail is moved with a loose luff on deck in windward direction at the level of the aft shroud of the foremast. The sheet of the sail is usually guided over the mizzen tree jib.
