Staysail
As staysail those are fore- called whose luff not on a pole, but on a Stag is attached. The attachment to the stay is usually carried out over hanks or via an in sailing sewn leech rope which is introduced into the groove of a profile tags.
The staysails include headsails , i.e. H. on smaller boats such as sailing yachts the jib or the genoa , on larger ships also Klüver , Jager and Flieger . On the other hand, staysails on multi-masted ships can be driven on the stays between the masts. This is the case on staysail schooners , which usually only use staysails on all masts except the rearmost mast , also on square sailors who can set staysails in addition to the square sails, and finally on other schooners that drive a fisherman staysail between the mast tops can.
