Besar Nimani (born July 12, 1985 in Kosovska Mitrovica ) is a German boxer of Kosovar Albanian origin. In 1997 he came to Germany and has lived in Bielefeld ever since . He is an IBF international light middleweight champion and has only lost once in his professional career.

Career

amateur

Besar Nimani started his career in Bielefeld in 1998 at SV Brackwede . Boxing helped the young migrant to quickly make friends in his new home. A successful amateur period began. He played 98 fights, of which he won 87. He won the Westphalia Championship five times. At the West German Championships he took first place three times. At the German Championships, Nimani could not start because he did not yet have German citizenship at that time. During his amateur days, he also got to know today's WBO world champion Marco Huck , who switched to the pros in 2004. The two athletes maintain their childhood friendship to this day.

Professional career

In 2011 Nimani switched to the professionals and played his first professional fight against Thomas Freitag on February 12th. After 58 seconds the fight was over and Friday found himself on the ring floor. The following six fights Nimani won by knockout. On October 15, 2011 he was allowed to fight for the International German Championship against Hervé Mbongo-Starr . In Velten it was the first time for Nimani to make ends meet in the Ofen Stadthalle. After 10 rounds he was able to celebrate his first professional title with a point win. On November 18, 2012, Nimani qualified for the IBF European Championship after successfully fighting four fights within just under seven months. Against Sandor Micsko, he prevailed with a knockout in the seventh round and won his first international title, the European Championship in the light middleweight division of the IBF.

Nimani was able to achieve his greatest success so far on May 31, 2014 in his hometown of Bielefeld, when he brought Mike Miranda to his knees in the first round and thus became the new IBF International title holder.

Nimani lost the most important fight of his career on April 11, 2015 against the French Frank Horche Horta by TKO in round 4. With a win Besar Nimani would have made it into the top 15 of the IBF ranking and could have challenged the IBF world champion.
