The occupation of the Romanian embassy in Bern in 1955 was a politically motivated hostage-taking .
procedure
A group of four Romanians in exile occupied the embassy of the People's Republic of Romania in Switzerland on February 14, 1955 and took several employees hostage . An employee was shot. The group who had come from West Germany demanded the release of political prisoners and planned to steal secret files. On February 16, the group left the embassy voluntarily.
After his release from Swiss custody, the leader Oliviu Beldeanu was abducted from West to East Berlin , arrested there, transferred from the GDR to Romania and sentenced to death there.
