Beth Wood

Beth Ann Wood (born April 22, 1954 ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Beth Ann Wood helped out on the family farm when she was young, like many others in North Carolina. Your family built tobacco near Cove City ( Craven County of). After graduating from Community College, she worked as a dental assistant, a job she did for several years. Wood attended East Carolina University for four years, eventually earning a bachelor's degree in accounting . In 1987 she became an auditor . Over the years she then worked for various companies. She was an accountant for Rayovac , a chartered accountant for McGladrey & Pullen, and a finance director for a furniture company in North Carolina.

In elections in 2008, it became the state auditor of North Carolina selected. She was re-elected twice, in 2012 and 2016. She is the first woman to hold this office. She began her first four-year term in January 2009. Prior to that, she served with the State Auditor and the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer for approximately ten years . During that time, she was instrumental in bringing North Carolina's Compliance Supplements into line with federal standards in order to use the federal grants as intended. Wood took a leadership role in redesigning the State Auditor's training program to make it more relevant to state auditor work. She also helped develop employee reviews that better reflect the work performance of employees in the State Auditor's agency.

Wood has taught a variety of specialist courses at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). It has both public accountant in the state of North Carolina and in the rest of the United States taught how government organizations to audit irish, including the concept of risk-based auditing. She also sat on the AICPA Steering Committee during the annual Government and Not for Profit Conference.

Wood is married and has no children.
