North Carolina State Auditor

The North Carolina State Auditor is one of the constitutional offices of the state of North Carolina . He is responsible for monitoring and checking the financial accounts of all government authorities. The current incumbent is Beth Wood .

Although the state auditor post has existed in North Carolina since 1862, the state auditor post in North Carolina was not created until the 1868 constitution. The state auditor has been elected for four years by the electoral population of North Carolina since that time. Prior to 1862, the North Carolina General Assembly appointed state comptrollers and boards of auditors in various parts of the state.
