The company medical service (also company rescue service ) provides medical care for employees of a company, especially in the event of accidents and other emergencies.

The range of tasks extends from simple wound care and extended first aid to eye washings to emergency medical measures (e.g. resuscitation ) and taking on the tasks of the rescue service and disaster control on the company premises. Documentation of accidents at work and occupational illnesses to ensure benefits claims against the employers' liability insurance association , as well as the maintenance and control of emergency medical equipment (e.g. first-aid kits) is usually the responsibility of the company medical service.

The company medical service often also takes on the tasks of the occupational medical service (AMD) of a company, such as preventive and control examinations, and thus supports the appointed company doctor in his work.

The activity is supported by non-medical staff ( paramedics , emergency personnel , nurses ) and physicians exercised.

Legal framework

In contrast to the training of paramedics and paramedics at events, which are mostly carried out by the aid organizations according to their own guidelines, there are defined legal requirements for the company medical service.

The minimum training and the advanced training of the company paramedic is specified and the circumstances (type of company, number of employees) and to what extent aids or organizational measures (bandages, medical room, company paramedics) are to be provided.
