Bette Bright

Bette Bright (actually Anne Martin ) is a British rock singer.

In the late 1970s , Bright was the singer of the art rock band Deaf School . After the band split up, Bright continued solo with the backing band The Illuminations , which initially consisted of Henry Priestman (Ex-Yachts), Rusty Egan ( Visage ) and Glen Matlock ( Sex Pistols ). The single Captain of Your Heart became a small hit. The second single Hello I Am Your Heart even officially rose to number 50 in the British charts. In between, Bette was briefly on the microphone of the Dutch band Gruppo Sportivo (under her real name Anne Martin) and appeared in the Malcolm McLaren / Sex Pistols film The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle .

In 1981 she released the album Rhythm Breaks the Ice , on which she sang her own pieces, but also reinterpreted classics such as Shoorah, Shoorah , and songs from her old band. The backing band the Illuminations resembled Clive Langer & the Boxes on this album : Clive Langer (guitar / sitar), Ian Broudie (guitar), James Eller (bass); Mr Jo Allen and Martin Hughes (drums); and Ben Barson , brother of Madness keyboardist Mike Barson (keyboards). The LP was of course also produced by Clanger / Winstanley .

Bette Bright also got to know the Madness boys through the Langer / Barson connection - and love their singer. She married Suggs Graham McPherson in 1982 and largely withdrew from show business.

In 1988 she took part again on the Reunion Live LP from Deaf School .
