Bettina Stadlbauer (born April 22, 1967 in Linz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2002 to 2008 she was a member of the National Council and from 2000 to 2009 managing director of the SPÖ Federal Women's Organization. From 2016 to May 2019 she was managing director of the SPÖ Upper Austria.

education and profession

Stadlbauer attended the elementary school of the Bruckner Sisters in Linz and in 1977 switched to the Hamerlingschule federal high school. From 1981 to 1983 Stadlbauer attended the upper secondary school in Bad Leonfelden , after which she learned the profession of office clerk from 1984 to 1987. Out of anger about preferring a less qualified boy, she became involved as a youth counselor: "My sense of justice told me that there had to be equal opportunities for women and men."

From 2013 to 2016 she completed a part-time social science degree at the University of Strasbourg. In her thesis she dealt with the topic "Women and power using the example of the ÖGB Upper Austria".

Bettina Stadlbauer worked as a clerk at Elektro Bau AG Linz between 1987 and 1989 and was then secretary of the ASKÖ Upper Austria until 1993 . From 1993 she was employed as a youth officer for the union of private employees (GPA) Linz and from 1995 she was also union secretary of the GPA Linz. After being appointed managing director of the SPÖ federal women's organization in 2000, she gave up her previous activities. After returning to Linz in 2009, she worked as a division manager for women and migration issues in the ÖGB Upper Austria.

Before starting his apprenticeship, Stadlbauer married at the age of 16 and has a daughter from this marriage. The divorce took place two years later. After leaving politics, she married her partner Jürgen in 2019 and is now called Bayr-Gschiel.

politics

Her family experiences brought her into politics. Bettina Stadlbauer was state youth chairwoman and deputy federal youth chairwoman in the union of private employees from 1990 to 1994 and was a member of the ÖGB federal youth committee in 1994 . She has also been the women's chairwoman and deputy chairwoman of the FSG Linz since 1995, and from 1994 to 2002 and again from 2009 she was chamber councilor of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor and Employees . From 1993 to 2002 and from 2015 to 2016 she represented the SPÖ in the Linz City Council. In 2000 Stadlbauer was elected to the Federal Party Executive, the Federal Party Presidium and the Federal Women's Executive of the SPÖ.

Stadlbauer represented the SPÖ in the National Council from December 20, 2002 to October 27, 2008.

In May 2019 it became known that Georg Brockmeyer would succeed her as SPÖ state manager. Brockmeyer was elected regional executive director of the SPÖ Upper Austria on June 3, 2019.
