Bettinus is an impact crater to the south of the lunar front , southeast of Zucchius crater and north of Kircher . The rim of the crater is only slightly eroded, the inner slopes are terraced, the interior is largely flat and has a central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian Jesuit, astronomer and mathematician Mario Bettini .
