Kircher is an impact crater in the extreme southwest of the front of the moon , south of Bettinus crater and northwest of Klaproth . The rim of the crater is moderately eroded, the interior largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German Jesuit and polymath Athanasius Kircher .
