Betty Boo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Betty Boo (real name Alison Moira Clarkson , born March 6, 1970 in Kensington , London ) is a British singer, rapper and songwriter .

biography

Clarkson trained as a sound engineer before starting her career as a singer . Her stage name Betty Boo is borrowed from the comic figure Betty Boop , but she omitted the last letter as a precaution against possible trademark protection lawsuits.

In 1990 she had the titles Doin 'the Do and Where Are You Baby? two top 10 hits in the UK charts.

After ending her solo career, she achieved success as a writer on several titles, including Pure and Simple for Hear'Say , as well as writing for Girls Aloud and The Tweenies .

In 2006 a single of the same name was released under the band name Wigwam ( in collaboration with Alex James , bassist for Blur ). An announced LP of this cooperation was never released.
