Betty Kolodzy (* 1963 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German writer.

Life

Kolodzy grew up in Munich from the age of one . She trained as a foreign language correspondent for French / Spanish and communications specialist in Munich and Berlin . Stays in London, Marseille, Granada, Istanbul. In 2012 she took part in the “Stadtrand +” project of the Bremen Literary Week. In 2012/2013 she taught creative writing at the University of Bremen, 2013/2014 at the School of Architecture at the University of Bremen and in 2014/2015 literary writing at the University of Osnabrück, Department of Landscape Architecture. In 2016/2017 Kolodzy accompanied the “Bremer Schulhausroman” in cooperation with the Literaturhaus Bremen and the Junge Literaturlabor JULL, Zurich. In 2016 she initiated the writing project Heimat: Language for people with a refugee background. Since 2018 she has been teaching creative windows at the University of Bremen.

Kolodzy is a member of the Association of German Writers .

  • 2014: Scholarship from the Bremer Literaturkontor in the Worpswede artist houses for the novel In the summer, the flies come
  • 2016: Working grant from the state of Saxony-Anhalt at the Kunsthof Dahrenstedt 
  • 2019: Bremen Women's Culture Promotion Prize from the Senator for Culture

Adaptation

In 2011 Istanbul Walking was staged at Theater Bremen by Tomas Bünger, dancer and choreographic assistant of the Bremen dance theater. Kolodzy developed the soundtrack. Bugrahan Sirin designed the set.
