bump
A bump is that can come into existence by various causes a protrusion or recess.
In the narrower sense, a tissue swelling is colloquially referred to as a bump, which can be caused by bruises , edema or hematomas, for example . Pus formation can also cause a bump (the pus bump ), as can vegetable exudate as with the bump resin .
etymology
The West Germanic word ( Middle High German biule , Old High German būlla ) is based (presumably like “ belly ”) on the Indo-European root bh [e] u- , b [e] u- “(to) blow, swell”.
