Joris Peusens (born April 24, 1979 in Genk ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who played for more than a decade at IHC Leuven in the Belgian honor division . Since 2017 he has played for the Cold Play Sharks in the National League Division 1 .

Career

Joris Peusens began his career in the neighboring Netherlands, where he played for Eaters Geleen in the local honor division at the age of 15 . When the Eaters withdrew from the honor division in 1997, but instead joined a Belgian team with the Phantoms Deurne in the Dutch honor division, he moved to the Antwerp district club. Two years later he returned to Geleen because the Eaters were playing first class again and the Phantoms had returned to the weaker Belgian honor division . This time he stayed in the Netherlands for five years. In 2005 he finally returned to Belgium and joined the IHC Leuven . With the club from the traditional university town, he played in the Belgian honor division for more than a decade. In his first year there, he won the Belgian championship with the club - a success that was repeated in 2010 and 2013. In addition, he won the cup in 2006 . Since 2017 he has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks from Mechelen in the National League Division 1 .

International

For the Belgian national team , Peusens first took part in the 1995 C2 world championships and the 1996 , 1997 , 1998 , 1999 and 2000 D world championships . After switching to the current division system, he played at the World Championships of Division II in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , when, as the tournament's top scorer, he made a significant contribution to the promotion of the Belgians to Division I in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 . At the 2004 World Cup he played with the Belgians in Division I.
