The Beydağ Dam ( Beydağ Barajı in Turkish ) is located on the Little Meander ( Küçükmenderes Nehri ) in the western Turkish province of İzmir .
The Beydağ dam was built in 2005-2009 north of the small town of Beydağ about 100 km east of the provincial capital İzmir . It is mainly used for irrigation and is designed for an area of 19,650 ha. The dam was originally designed as a rock embankment dam with a clay core . The barrier structure was then realized as a gravity dam made of rolled concrete ( RCC dam ). A rolled concrete with a lower cement content (60 kg / m³) was used. A PVC layer and precast concrete parts were used as a seal. The dam wall has a height of 95 m above the foundation base and 54 m above the valley floor. It has a volume of 2.312 million m³. The crown length is 800 m. The diversion tunnel has a length of 584.5 m, a diameter of 5 m and a capacity of 151 m³ / s. On the side of the barrier structure there is a flood relief with a capacity of 1275 m³ / s. The 13 km² reservoir has a storage volume of 248 million m³.
