Brussels district

The district of Brussels (French Arrondissement administratif de Bruxelles , Dutch Arrondissement Brussel ) was a district in Belgium that was dissolved in 1963.

The district was created in 1800 during the period of the First French Republic . He belonged to the Dyle department .

During the time of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands , the southern border of the district was changed in 1823 so that it now coincided with the language border of the time.

In 1963 the district was divided into the following three new districts:

In 1971, the Brussels-outskirts district was dissolved and added to the Halle-Vilvoorde district.

The Brussels district, together with the Leuven and Nivelles districts, formed the province of Brabant , which was dissolved in 1995.
