Kėdainiai district

The Kėdainiai District (lit. Kėdainių apskritis ) was a district in Central Lithuania, on the other side of the Nevėžis . The center was the city of Kėdainiai , now a middle town of Lithuania .

history

The district was formed on December 12, 1915 by the German occupying forces. The crew area has been prepared by the General Staff of the Commander-East on the Eastern Front of World War I managed. From 1915 to 1918 the Kėdainiai District was part of the Lithuania Administrative District, and from 1919 to 1950 it belonged to Lithuania. In 1917 there were 52,153 inhabitants. In 1920 the Wolost Krekenava became the Panevėžys district . In 1950 the Kėdainiai district (34 districts), Dotnuva district (38 districts), Jonava district (8 districts) and Ramygala district (3 districts) were established.
