Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha ( BJYM , Hindi भारतीय जनता युवा मोर्चा , "Youth Front of the Indian People"), often abbreviated Yuva Morcha ("Youth Front"), is the youth organization of the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

history

BJYM was founded in 1978 as a Hindu nationalist youth organization. Its first president was Kalraj Mishra . At the time it was founded, there was no major Hindu nationalist political party, as the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) was absorbed into the newly founded Janata Party in 1977 . However, the Janata Party soon split up into various individual parties and in 1980 a new party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and BJYM, was reorganized as the youth organization of the BJP, largely from former BJS partisans.

BJYM is organized in a similar way to the parent party BJP. There is a president, several vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries and senior members. The BJYM President is appointed directly by the BJP Party President. The highest governing body is the National Executive . Analogous structures exist at the state level. There is an intensive personal exchange between BJYM and BJP. Many former BJYM presidents later rose to leadership positions in the BJP, such as B. Kalraj Mishra, Rajnath Singh , Pramod Mahajan and Shivraj Singh Chauhan .

The declared aim of BJYM is the empowerment of Indian youth, which should contribute to leading India into a prosperous and positive future. The same personal, social, political and economic development opportunities should be created for everyone. As the youth organization of the BJP, BJYM tries to support the goals of the BJP party leadership and to advertise them to the youth.

There is some competition with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP, "All India Student Council"), a Hindu nationalist student association that has close ties to the BJP but is formally not one of its organizations.
