Bhind is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh . The city is located in the north of the state near the border with Uttar Pradesh .

The city is the administrative center of the Bhind district of the same name . Khargone has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 39 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The city's population is 197,585 according to the 2011 census. Bhind has a gender ratio of 875 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 83.0% in 2011, well above the regional and national average. Almost 86% of the population are Hindus , approx. 7% are Jainas , approx. 6% are Muslims and approx. 1% belong to another or no religion. Children under 6 years of age are 12.8% of the population.
