Bia Davou

Bia Davou , Greek Μπία Ντάβου (* October 1932 in Athens ; † August 12, 1996 ibid) was a Greek painter .

life and work

Bia Davou studied painting with Costas Iliadis from 1952 to 1958 (Κώστα Ηλιάδη, 1903–1991) and later worked as an assistant in his studio. She was a founding member of the Processes-Systems group . Davou's first solo exhibition took place in 1960 at the Nees Morfes gallery (New Forms). In 1970 she exhibited at the PR Gallery in Athens, 1976 at the Athens Art Gallery and 1978 at the Desmos Gallery . Bia Davou participated in the Alexandria Biennale in 1967 and in the São Paulo Biennale in 1989 .

From 2008 to 2009 the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens showed Davou in a retrospective. In 2017, the work Sails (1981) was exhibited posthumously at documenta 14 in Kassel.
