from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bianor ( Greek  Βιάνωρ ) is in Greek mythology one of the centaurs who take part in the battle against the Lapiths at the wedding of Peirithoos and Hippodameia . In battle, Theseus swings on his back and kills him with his oak mace. Ovid describes the battle scene in his Metamorphoses :

"He swings onto the back of the tall Bianor, who was only used to carrying himself, otherwise nobody, put his knee on his ribs and pulls back the hair on his head, which he grabs with his left hand, and smashes it with the knotty wood Face and threatening mouth and bony temples. "
