August Schultz

August Schultz (born July 10, 1852 in Breslau , † December 19, 1889 in Hirschberg ) was a German classical philologist .

Life

After graduating from the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau (Easter 1869), Schultz studied classical philology, German and philosophy at the universities in Breslau and Berlin . On July 3, 1874 Schultz was in Wroclaw at Richard Foerster with the dissertation De Theseo : quaestio archaeologica doctorate . After the exam on November 19, 1875, he completed his probationary year at the high school in Ratibor . On October 1, 1877, he was employed as the administrator of a teaching position with a salary of 1,800 marks. Finally, on April 15, 1878, Schultz received a permanent position at the Hirschberg high school in Silesia. He died on December 19, 1889 at the age of 37.

In addition to his teaching activities, Schultz was also scientifically active. He published articles in the New Yearbooks for Philology and Pedagogy and in the Yearbooks for Classical Philology as well as numerous articles in Wilhelm Heinrich Roscher's Detailed Lexicon of Greek and Roman Mythology .
