Biastes brevicornis is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees are 7 to 8 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are black, the abdomen and partially the rails ( tibia ) and the tarsi are red. The parting is raised and sharp-edged at the back. The postscutellum is thickened in the middle. With the exception of a patch of hair on the rear edge of the fifth tergite, the abdomen is hairless and roughly punctiform. The males are completely black and almost hairless, only the third and fourth sternite are provided with dense, extensive patches of hair. The vertex and the postscutellum are developed as in the female. The seventh tergite has a wide pygidial plate .
Occurrence and way of life
The species is distributed in Europe north to 55 ° north latitude and in Turkey. It flies from June to August. The species parasitizes Systropha curvicornis and Systropha planidens
