Beaver (fabric)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Biber (also English Beaver , Beaverteen ) is a dense fabric made of cotton , one or both sides z. B. has been roughened by milling . This makes the fabric a little thicker, fluffy and soft, so that it feels warmer on the skin . The substance is probably named after the mammal of the same name. The beaver has a very dense fur, which protects it from cooling down in the water. Beaver is therefore mainly used for winter bedding , warm underwear and flannel shirts . Originally, Biber was only made in twill weave ; The fabric used for bed linen today is mostly plain weave .

Biber is also called rough couverture, raw flannel or cotton flannel . The English name is flannelette .
