Bible John is the pseudonym of a serial killer from Scotland who has not been convicted to this day , who is responsible for three feminicides between 1968 and 1969 and is also linked to the disappearance of a 13-year-old. The main suspect is the serial killer Peter Tobin , who is currently serving a life sentence.

Crime series

On February 23, 1968, 25-year-old Patricia Docker was found strangled on a path in Glasgow . She had spent the previous night at the nearby Barrowland Ballroom dance club . On August 15, 1969, 32-year-old Jemima McDonald was found strangled in an old building in Glasgow. She also spent the previous night in the "Barrowland Ballroom" and was seen there by witnesses together with a tall, slender man with red hair. On October 30, 1969, 29-year-old Helen Puttock was found strangled. She had also spent the previous night in the "Barrowland Ballroom" and was seen there with the same man. All three women were brunette and wore black dresses.

Bible John

In one of his victims he pretended to be "John", which she told a friend before she was murdered. And a taxi driver who carried the killer and his last victim testified that the killer had recited quotations from the Bible. Because of this, the perpetrator was called "Bible John" by the police.

Peter Tobin

Peter Tobin came under suspicion because as a young man he often went to dance halls, was an extremely religious person throughout his life and resembled a phantom image published at the time. He also lived in Glasgow in 1968 and 1969, precisely at the time the three women were murdered in Glasgow. In the early 1970s he moved to the south of England, where he was sentenced to ten years in prison for raping two 14-year-old girls whom he had pleaded with drug cocktails. Tobin escaped but was caught at a church meeting place in Coventry . On May 4, 2007, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of student Angelika Kluk . During the search for clues in his former home in Margate , the bodies of 15-year-old Vicky Hamilton and 18-year-old Dinah McNicol were found, whereupon he was again sentenced to life imprisonment. His three proven victims have the same hair color as the victims of the Bible John, and apart from Angelika Kluk, they were all strangled in the same way.
