The South Tyrol Library Association (BVS; own name: library association Südtirol ) is a non-profit association founded on January 31, 1981 to promote libraries in South Tyrol . It is an association of libraries, librarians and sponsors.
In 2018, 377 libraries, 19 bookstores and publishers and 1,140 private individuals are members of the association. The association's managing director is Irene Demetz. 12 employees work in two offices in Bolzano and Bruneck .
The BVS conducts public relations work for the library system , offers mainly the smaller member libraries central services (e.g. library-friendly media processing , conversion to the new standard system ), looks after the library administration software and provides technical support for the libraries. In addition, around 20-25 training courses and study trips to book fairs and library congresses are organized for members every year .
