The Biederitzer Busch is an alluvial forest managed by the DBU Naturerbe in the area of the city of Magdeburg and is located in the northeast of the city, east of the Elbe in the Magdeburg-Herrenkrug district .

East of the forest is the eponymous municipality of Biederitz . A 5 km long nature trail runs through the forest .

The vegetation is determined by maple , ash , English oak , elm and wild fruit species. Beavers occur near the water .

Originally the Biederitzer Busch was larger. The forest in the vicinity of the Chaussebrücke had disappeared. With the construction of the Elbe flood canal , the Biederitzer Busch had to recede somewhat in its eastern extension. Originally it reached right up to the Ehle , while today it only extends to the canal dykes.

The Waldschänke restaurant , popular especially in the first half of the 20th century , was a popular destination for the residents of Magdeburg. However, the Waldschänke fell into disrepair during the GDR era and was eventually demolished.

In the southern part of the Biederitzer Busch, the mother oak was located until 1925 , a historic meeting place for the Magdeburg workers' movement. Today there is an unmarked memorial stone there. Another memorial stone, the Wittig monument , was erected in memory of driver Walter Wittig, who was murdered in the forest in 1927, and is located south of the An den Rennwiesen road leading through the forest .
