Biederitz is a unified municipality in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The community of Biederitz is only a few kilometers from Magdeburg's eastern city limits. The dividing line is the so-called Umflutkanal , via which the “Pig Bridge ” connects the two places. The district town of Burg is around 20 kilometers away.

history
The former administrative community Biederitz consisted of the communities Biederitz (Heyrothsberge), Gerwisch , Gübs , Königsborn , Menz , Nedlitz , Wahlitz and Woltersdorf and was located in the Saxon-Anhalt district of Jerichower Land . The administrative seat was Biederitz.
On January 1, 2005, the administrative community was merged with the Möser administrative community to form the new Biederitz-Möser administrative community. The communities of Menz, Nedlitz and Wahlitz, however, were incorporated into the city of Gommern .
On January 1, 2010, the communities of Biederitz merged with the district of Heyrothsberge, Gerwisch , Gübs , Königsborn and Woltersdorf to form the new unitary community of Biederitz. The former district of Heyrothsberge is now an equal place. The seat of the administration is in Heyrothsberge.

The coat of arms was approved by the district on October 12, 2010.
Blazon : “Square of green and silver; Fields 1 and 3: three silver acorns (2: 1), fields 2 and 4: a blue wavy bar. "
The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process. This was preceded by the decision of the municipal council to symbolize the six places belonging to the municipality with six acorns and the rivers Elbe and Ehle with wavy bars in the coat of arms.
The colors of the church are green - white.

Partner communities
Vechelde in Lower Saxony has been Biederitz's partner municipality since 1990.
Lemwerder in Lower Saxony has been a partner municipality of the Gerwisch municipality since 2001. With the merger to form the Biederitz community, the partnership was transferred and continued.
economy
Since the turnaround and reunification in 1989, the six localities of the unified municipality of Biederitz have developed into an attractive business location and residential area. Small craft businesses, numerous medium-sized companies and firms, retailers, agricultural cooperatives, as well as independent lawyers, pharmacists and doctors are located in the unitary community. In the gastronomy sector you can find several restaurants with regional cuisine and also two Greek restaurants. Two hotels in Biederitz and Heyrothsberge and several guesthouses distributed throughout the community offer overnight accommodation.
There are currently 3 large industrial parks in the municipality. One is in Biederitz am Parkweg, one industrial area is in Gerwisch and the third is in Heyrothsberge Am Fuchsberg.
The location of the unified municipality to the state capital Magdeburg favors the business location Biederitz. Numerous Magdeburg residents and newcomers from all over Germany settled in the districts of the unified community. Small shops and stores of all kinds are located in the municipality as well as large supermarkets.
Transport links
The B1 represents the main traffic artery for the community. It runs through the localities Gerwisch, Heyrothsberge and connects the community with Magdeburg and Burg via Möser. The Lostau and Burg-Zentrum exit routes are the best way to get to Biederitz from the A2. The B184 leads from Heyrothsberge via Königsborn in the direction of Gommern.
Bus lines 42 (Magdeburg-Genthin), 51 (Magdeburg-Heyrothsberge) and 708 (Burg-Gommern) run through the municipality.
Trains from Magdeburg, Genthin, Möckern and Dessau stop at Biederitz station.
The B1 has an adjacent cycle path and the well-known Elbe cycle path from the Czech Republic to Hamburg also leads past the villages of Biederitz and Gerwisch.
Culture
Biederitz music summer
The Biederitzer Musiksommer has existed since 1990 . It was brought into being by Cantor Michael Scholl and is of national importance. The concerts take place in Biederitz as well as in Jerichower Land and the Magdeburg area. The main actor in the summer of music is the Biederitzer Kantorei . For concerts such as the Biederitzer Tastennacht or Blech am Fluss , the open-air concert on the Ehle , nationally and internationally known artists regularly perform in Biederitz.
Biederitzer Ehlefest
The Biederitzer Ehlefest has been taking place since the early 1980s. It is celebrated in the center of the village on the Kantorwiese .
Heyrothsberger Park (bunker area)
Open-air concerts were held on the site of the former NVA bunker in Heyrothsberger Park:
- Since 2005: the Doors Festival Feast of Friends .
- Irish folk was a regular feature on Irish Night .
- There were blues in the park at irregular intervals .
- The Keimzeit group was a regular guest.
A bar was operated in the bunker itself.
The Königsborn village and riding festival
The village and riding festival in Königsborn takes place every year on the riding arena, the dressage facility and in the Königsborner Park. It runs from Friday to Sunday and usually takes place in May. Volunteer bakers in Königsborn provide visitors with coffee and cake and the Königsborn local fire brigade is also involved in the festivities. Activities for children are also offered such as B. a bouncy castle. The main focus is on equestrian sports. There are several competitions such as jumping, dressage or riding tests. A show program is also prepared every year.
religion
The 2011 census in the European Union showed that 11.7% of the 8,494 inhabitants of the community of Biederitz belonged to the Protestant Church and 3.5% to the Roman Catholic Church. The majority of the inhabitants did not belong to any religious community.
Personalities
- Carl Leberecht Messow (1759-1825), worked in Biederitz as a Protestant superintendent and school reformer.
- The former world champion in road cycling Gustav-Adolf Schur was born in the district of Heyrothsberge on February 23, 1931 . He still lives there today.
- The biologist Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard was also born in Heyrothsberge on October 20, 1942 . In 1995 she was the first German woman to receive the “ Nobel Prize for Medicine ”.
- Badminton player Susi Spiegel, who was born on December 15, 1932 and who has won the championship title in the GDR and all of Germany over 40 times in her long career, still lives in Heyrothsberge.
- In the commune was Friedrich Elchlepp (* 1924 to † 2002), Rear Admiral of the People's Navy and Seekommissar the GDR , the son of Friedrich Wilhelm Elchlepp born (* 1897 in Stendal), who from 1923 to 1929 the Hartsteinwerke Heyrothsberge headed.
- The oriental and classical philologist and Protestant theologian Johann Gottfried Tympe (1699–1768) was born here.
