The Biesdorfer Baggersee in Biesdorf -Süd is one of the largest Baggersee in the Berlin area .

landscape

The Biesdorfer Baggersee lies in a largely built-up area. A large filter system for rainwater is located a few meters west of its bank. Around the quarry pond there is an approximately 1400 meter long path that has several accesses to the lake. Most parts of the lake shore are covered with reeds , trees and other plants. Only in the north is the bank area protected from entry by a fence. In the south of the water there are two separate sandy beaches that are not approved for swimming. Several wooden loungers were installed at the lake and a volleyball court was created. The fish species that are common in the quarry pond are carp , pike and roach .

Emergence

The Biesdorfer Baggersee originally emerged in the 19th century as a gravel pit, from which sand and gravel were removed for the new development areas in the area. When the mining stopped and all machines were removed, the pit filled with groundwater and rainwater. Today the Biesdorfer Baggersee is a biotope in which many animals and plants live.

use

In the summer months, the Biesdorfer Baggersee is used as a swimming lake, although it is not approved for swimming due to the poor water quality.

In 2020 there was also a lively rush here, regardless of the Corona distance rules.
