The Big Creek Port Facility is a deep water port in Belize . The port facility is located at the mouth of Big Creek in the Caribbean Sea , in the Toledo District .
The port facility was built in the 1990s by private investors. The port facility has 133 meters of quays.
Belizean bananas , citrus fruits and shrimp are shipped via Big Creek . The oil from Spanish Lookout is also exported via Big Creek .
In October 2001, the diving cruise ship capsized Wave Dancer by Peter Hughes during Hurricane Iris ago Big Creek. 20 people died (3 crew members, 17 vacationers).
