Alexander "Alex" Paul Rizzo (born January 12, 1968 in Suffolk , New Jersey , † May 16, 2002 in Copiague , New York ) was an American wrestler . He was best known under his ring name Big Dick Dudley . Rizzo mainly competed in Extreme Championship Wrestling and was a key member of the stable " The Dudley Family ."

Private

Rizzo was a close friend of Boo Boo Ray and Nicole Bass. He is the father of two children, a daughter (* 1990) and a son (* 1997).

Career

Beginnings

Alex Rizzo has been trained by Johnny Rodz since 1986 . After his wrestling training, Rizzo was in the American independent leagues, where he was allowed to compete against international greats such as André the Giant .

National Wrestling Alliance

From 1994 Rizzo was employed at short notice at the promotion NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling . Through his contract with the NWA / ECW, Rizzo also came into contact with the actual National Wrestling Alliance . In the same year he moved from the ECW to the NWA.

The National Wrestling Alliance developed a gimmick for Rizzo that turned out to be very successful: Rizzo became Big Dick Dudley , who came from the (fictional) city of Dudleyville . Because of its size, Rizzo was used as a so-called powerhouse at NWA . The National Wrestling Alliance gave Rizzo a partner who was named Dudley Dudley . Rizzo was now in the Tag Team Wrestling .

Extreme Championship Wrestling

After his NWA contract expired, Rizzo signed with Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1995 . There he was made the center of the bar around the Dudley Boyz .

On May 16, 2002, Rizzo was found dead in his apartment. Kidney failure was found to be the official cause of death .
