Bill Douglass (bass player)

Bill Douglass (actually William Clinton Douglass ; * 1945 ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass , bamboo flute ).

Douglass has been active in the jazz scene in San Francisco since the mid-1960s , initially in the band Lamb , which appeared in the scene around the Fillmore West and recorded two albums around 1970. He then worked u. a. with Mark Isham , Norman Greenbaum , Art Lande ( Rubisa Patrol , ECM 1976), Charlie Byrd , Tom Waits ( The Black Rider ) and Marian McPartland ( Live at Yoshi's Ninespot , 1995). In a duo with the pianist Andrei Kitaev, he released the album First Takes (Reference Recordings) in 1978 . Douglass taught and worked as a film musician ( The Black Stallion , 1979) and composer ( Sewing Woman , 1982).

The bassist should not be confused with the drummer of the same name .
