Karl-Friedrich Knoche

Karl-Friedrich Knoche (born December 24, 1933 in Bad Oeynhausen ; † May 14, 2016 ) was a German mechanical engineer .

Knoche was a student and employee of Fran Bošnjaković (1902-1993) at the Institute for Thermodynamics for Aeronauts and Astronauts at the University of Stuttgart . After his retirement, Knoche accepted a call at RWTH Aachen University , where he took over the chair and head of the Institute for Technical Thermodynamics as a full professor on the occasion of the division of the machine laboratory into an Institute for Technical Thermodynamics and an Institute for Applied Thermodynamics. Here he taught and researched until his retirement in 1999. Since 1978 he was a full member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts , member of the German Academy of Technical Sciences (acatech), member of the chemical and thermal process engineering department in the Union of the German Academies of Science and member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), Aachen. From 1994 to 1999 he was Vice President of the German Research Foundation .
