Bill Inmon

William Harvey "Bill" Inmon (born July 20, 1945 in San Diego , California ) is an American computer scientist. He is known as the "father of data warehousing " and is an internationally recognized consultant, speaker and author in this field.

Inmon completed a degree in mathematics at Yale University , and also graduated from the New Mexico State University completing a Master of Science in computer science . He developed the concept of the Corporate Information Factory (CIF) and the Government Information Factory. He also has more than 35 years of experience in the field of database management and data warehouse design and advises many Fortune 100 customers.

Bill Inmon is the author of 45 books, most of which have been published in nine languages. He also founded several companies - in 1991 Prism Solutions, which he went public, and in 1995 Pine Cone Systems (now Ambeo). In 1999 he co-founded billinmon.com, a data warehousing and corporate information factory website aimed at professionals and decision makers.
