Bill Lawrence (musician)
Bill Lawrence , actually Willi Lorenz Stich , also known under the stage names Billy Lorento and Bela Lorentowsky , (born March 24, 1931 in Cologne-Wahn ; † November 2, 2013 ) was a German -American musician , developer and entrepreneur in the musical instrument industry .
Life
Lawrence was active as a jazz guitarist and session musician in the post-war decade under the name Billy Lorento . At the same time he dealt with the improvement and basic technical construction of his instruments, in particular with electrotechnical questions of amplification and pickup . This led to collaborations with the American guitar manufacturers Fender and the Gibson Guitar Corporation as well as with the German company Framus , which took up his ideas and implemented them in the Billy Lorento models .
