Bill Pronzini
William John Pronzini (born April 13, 1943 in Petaluma , California) is an American writer who primarily writes crime novels and stories, but also Wild West and science fiction novels . Pronzini uses various pseudonyms: Robert Hart Davis, Jack Foxx, William Jeffrey, Alex Saxon and John Barry Williams.
Life
Bill Pronzini spent his youth in California. He tried to earn a living with various auxiliary jobs as a worker, for example as a warehouse worker or temporary guard. During his first marriage to Laura Patricia Adolphson, he published his first story You Don't Know What It's Like in 1966 and has since developed into a "prolific writer". After the death of his wife, he married Brunhilde Schier in 1972; the marriage was divorced in 1985. Pronzini currently lives in San Francisco with his third wife, the popular crime novelist Marcia Muller , with whom he has already published several joint novels.
Despite his diverse publications, from historical thrillers to classic Whodunits to spy thrillers, his main work, a series about a nameless detective that has been going on since 1971, gained him a high degree of popularity in the Anglo-Saxon-speaking world. The Nameless Detective , as the series is called in the original, does not appear in any of the more than 30 novels with his name without actually being missed. In addition to a number of standalones, Pronzini was the editor of many anthologies .
