Bill Sharpe (athlete)
Bill Sharpe (actually William John Sharpe; born January 23, 1932 in Philadelphia ) is a former American triple jumper .
In 1956 he finished fourth at the Helsinki Olympics , and in 1959 he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Chicago .
At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he was eliminated from the qualification.
In 1963 he won the Pan American Games in São Paulo , and in 1964 he finished eleventh at the Olympic Games in Tokyo .
He was US champion three times (1957, 1961, 1962). In 1956 he won the NCAA title for West Chester State Teachers College . He set his personal best of 16.18 m on September 13, 1964 in Los Angeles .
