Inner Elbe

The Binnenelbe (from within (North German) = "inside") is not the same as the lower Elbe , but according to the Federal Waterways of non- tidal river area of the same from the source to the Geesthacht weir at km 585.9. However, the Lower Elbe from Geesthacht to Kugelbake in Cuxhaven is classified as an inland waterway .

"Inner Elbe" as part of the name

Inland Elbe also appears as part of the name of tributaries of the Lower Elbe that are located inland dykes :

• Borsteler Binnenelbe and Großes Brack (NSG)
• Haseldorfer Inner Elbe with Elbe Foreland (NSG)
