Samuel Harrison Thomson
Samuel Harrison Thomson , called Harrison Thomson, (born November 5, 1895 in Pasadena , California , † November 19, 1975 in Boulder , Colorado ) was an American historian . From 1936 to 1964 he was Professor of Medieval History at the University of Colorado Boulder . He dealt with the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Thomson studied modern languages, literature, philosophy, history and theology at Princeton University and the University of Oxford after his military service in World War I and received his doctorate in 1929 from Charles University in Prague . He taught at the University of Colorado and also at Hanover College , Princeton, Caltech , the University of California, Los Angeles (1964/65) and the University of Chicago .
He was editor of the Progress of Medieval Studies in the United States and Canada and founded the Journal of Central European Affairs and the journal Medievalia et Humanistica , which he published from 1943 to 1970. He was also an ordained Presbyterian minister.
In 1964 he received the Robert Sterns Award from the University of Colorado.

He also edited the writings of Jan Hus and Robert Grosseteste and worked on the editing of those by John Wyclif .
