Biograph Records is a US record label based last in Somerville , Massachusetts , founded in 1967 by Arnold S. Caplin , later continued by his son Alan Caplin. It specializes in ragtime , jazz and blues music; artists represented in the catalog include Scott Joplin , Jelly Roll Morton , Eubie Blake , Skip James and Son House .

In 2002, Biograph Records (and other labels also operated by Arnold S. and Alan Caplin such as Melodeon , Center , Regal and Dawn ) was bought by Retropolis Entertainment, a start-up of former Rhino Entertainment operators Richard Foos and Robert Emmer. After Retropolis turned into Shout! Factory, the new owners have begun re- releasing CDs of Biograph material under the brand name Biograph .
