The Magdeburg-Rothensee biomass cogeneration plant is located in Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, in the Rothensee district on the A 2 .

In June 2012, the biomass cogeneration plant was put into trial operation by Magdeburg-based GETEC Energie AG in the Rothensee industrial park. It has a biomass boiler, which is fired with natural wood chips and landscape conservation wood . In the downstream thermal oil boiler and the ORC system , the heat supply of 12 MW th and electricity generation of 2 MW el take place through a combined heat and power system .

The power plant supplies the neighboring wood pellet plant of BioPellet Magdeburg GmbH & Co. KG , the wind turbine manufacturer Enercon and other industrial customers with heat.
