Birgir Thórarinsson

Birgir Þórarinsson (German transcription Birgir Thorarinsson , born June 23, 1965 in Keflavík ) is an Icelandic politician of the Center Party , who used to belong to the Progress Party .

Life

Birgir Þórarinsson has a Bachelor in Theology from the University of Iceland and a Master of International Studies (MIS) from the School of International Service at American University in Washington, DC In the 1980s and 1990s, he worked as a police officer and firefighter at the airport, among other things Keflavík ; From 1997 to 2005 he was communications officer at the Keflavík airport fire department . After various other activities, he was a member of the management of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) from 2014 to 2016 .

From 2007 to 2013 Birgir Þórarinsson was a member of the Board of the Progress Party . From October to November 2010 and in October 2012 he served in the Icelandic parliament Althing as a substitute for the Progress Party in the southern constituency . In the parliamentary election on October 28, 2017 , Birgir Þórarinsson was elected to the Althing as the candidate of the Center Party for the southern constituency. As of December 2018, he is a member of the parliamentary committee for the budget.
