The Bismarck Monument in Worms is a monument to the politician and statesman Otto von Bismarck .

history

The monument donated by Cornelius Wilhelm von Heyl zu Herrnsheim was erected on September 2, 1890 at Rheintorplatz and in the 1930s it was moved to what was then the Bismarck complex (now the Lutherring ). After the end of the Second World War it was dismantled and stored in the Worms Museum , where it stood in the museum courtyard.

From 2013 it was considered whether and where the monument could be erected again. It was also suggested that it be built in Bebelstrasse at the entrance to the former workers' settlement in Kiautschau. On the occasion of Bismarck's 200th birthday, the Worms historian and city councilor Jörg Koch successfully initiated the reconstruction of the Bismarck bust, which was then inaugurated on September 12, 2015 in the park of the Heylshof art house in coordination with the Lower Monument Authority, the city of Worms and the Worms Antiquities Association .
