The memorial plaque for the assassination attempt on Chancellor Prince Bismarck on July 13, 1874 in Bad Kissingen is located at Bismarckstrasse 16 in Bismarckstrasse in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen . The plaque is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian list of monuments under the number D-6-72-114-276 .
history
The memorial plaque was made by sculptor Michael Arnold in 1874 . At the location of the table in Bad Kissinger Bismarckstrasse 16 (then: Saalestrasse) Otto vom Bismarck survived on July 13, 1874 during his stay at the guest house of Edmund Diruf the Elder. J. an assassination attempt. Böttcher journeyman Eduard Kullmann had shot at the Reich Chancellor in protest against the Kulturkampf when he left his accommodation. After it was feared that Otto von Bismarck would not come back, he completed his spa stays from 1876 in Hausen (today part of Bad Kissingen) in the Upper Saline , which, among other things, houses the Bismarck Museumhouses. On August 13, 1874, the Hammelburger Journal announced that Michael Arnold would make a memorial plaque.
On August 31, 1874, the local Saale-Zeitung wrote about the memorial plaque: The artist did not limit himself to simply executing the inscription, but rather provided it with rich gold-plated initials in the manner of the old German imperial and princely documents. (Is carried out in great detail.) Both the writing and the decorations on the memorial plaque carved in white Carrarian marble are excellently executed, and the artist has therefore performed his task in the most dignified manner.
The memorial plaque is on the wall of Edmund Diruf's guest house at the time (today: Heiligenfeld - “Klinik am Rosengarten”).
